Are you looking for something new and exciting this year in England?

Why not visit Ilminster to push your limits where you can try different activities?

Ilminster is the market town which is named after River Ile and Minster church which dates back to 15th century. St. Mary’s is one of the most amazing parish churches in the county and it is located on the uphill overlooking the busiest shopping area in town.

Illminster is settled in the exotic South Somerset countryside, between Taunton and Yeovil and it has a history dates back to 500AD and it has achieved its wealth from textile industry. It was the fourth largest town in 1670 in Somerset and expanded with arrival of the railway and the canal in the 19th century.

Now, the bustling town centre is thriving and you will hardly find any empty shops over there. There is so much to explore for the visitors at its pre-historic Dillington House and its successful arts centre. It is an amazing property which hosts lively program of courses and events running all the year round.

Owned by Lord Cameron, Dillington House dates back to 1580 and is leased to Somerset County Council, according to Director Wayne Bennett.

He says, “In the 1830s, there were significant alterations when inconsistent Georgian wing was demolished and reconstructed in the Jacobethan style”.

The coach house building and significant stables were built in the year 1875 and replaced the early buildings. In the 1930s, the family moved out and came back just for holidays. Dillington served the Free Polish Army, the Royal Army Service Corps and the 101st US Parachute Regimen during the war before the D-Day landings. After several failed tries to sell the property after the war, the county council got the full-repair lease to create a college. A new lease has replaced it till 2062.

Dillington has been described as a ‘veritable oasis’ for those who are going to attend both non-residential and residential courses, public lectures, and classical music concerts from the top figures in arts and science.
